A video posted on Twitter shows that Tucker Carlson (the Fox News presenter who recently left the air) plans to restart his show. This news follows a Sunday report by Axios, which noted that Carlson had spoken with Twitter CEO Elon Mush about working together.

“Starting soon we’ll be bringing a new version of the show we’ve been doing for the last six and a half years to Twitter,” Carlson said in a new Twitter video.

“We’ll bring some other things too, which we’ll tell you about. For now, we are just thankful to be here. Your main right is to speak freely. It is the most important right you can have. See you soon,” Carlson continued.

Carlson’s highly sought-after time slot of 8 p.m. on Fox News was taken away under mysterious conditions. According to some reports, Carlson’s removal was due to controversial remarks the host had made via private text messages. These comments were only revealed as part of Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation suit. Other reports, however, speculate that Carlson’s removal was due to a dispute at work where Carlson tried firing several senior executives. Carlson nor Fox News have clarified the reason for his removal from air.

Carlson reportedly tried to negotiate the formal termination of his employment with Fox News. Because while he’s been pulled from the air, he still has a contract that extends through early 2025. Fox might be trying slow down the exit negotiation in order to stop the host moving to a rival network.

“[Carlson] He will forgo at least $25 million owed to him by Fox Corp. in order to break non-compete clause,” Dylan Byers of Puck News noted in a tweet on Tuesday afternoon.

But at this point it looks like the competing network isn’t a network at all but a social media platform.

“Amazingly, as of tonight, there aren’t many platforms left that allow free speech. Twitter is now the only remaining big social media platform in the world. Twitter has served for many years as a place to incubate and grow our nation’s conversation. Twitter is not political. Everybody’s allowed here, and we think that’s a good thing,” Carlson said in his new video.

“And yet, for the most part, the news that you see analyzed on Twitter comes from media organizations that are themselves thinly disguised propaganda outlets. It’s on the cable news and you discuss it on Twitter. Although the result might seem like a heated debate, in reality it is still controlled by gatekeepers. That’s not a good system. We know exactly how it works and we’re sick of it,” Carlson continued.

Elon Musk created an automated reply to respond to Tuesday’s tweet asking for a comment. The response was a poop emoticon. I’ll update this article if I hear anything of substance.
